Get-t♡gethers: Suprise Bridal party!

Our dear beautiful friends’ marriage was just a week away and we had been planning a suprise party for her for what seemed like months! Her mother kindly offered her home for the festivities and so immediately she was in on it and in charge of the bride’s outfit and keeping this all quiet (she did so very well, our beautiful bride didn’t have a clue).

We got to planning everything, together with her own group of friends on a private chat group on WhatsApp (they were so excited and all helped chip in). We chose everything from decorations to food choices.

This post will be more about the food prepared by us but we have to throw in some party prep pointers that’ll leave a good impression without rinsing your bank account!

My sis in law & I came up with the theme and called it ‘fifty shades of red’ which was also the dress code. We decorated the food table with white cloth, red petals, sweet jars & faux tealights. We also hung a glittery banner, blew up some burgundy balloons and hung a few red paper lanterns. The overall look was effortless yet perfect!

Just take a look at our table…don’t forget to scroll till the end for more pics

Table Settings, it’s always a good idea to add nibbles to your party table such as crisps, chocolate & donuts (that way no one leaves hungry) #winning

Between two busy mums catering for 15+ ladies, decorating and travelling with it all was going to be a bit much so the group opted to order pizzas for the night and add our own extras. Our guests generously brought things to add too, like lasagna, oreo cake and our centre piece personalised cream cake.

Halal heat made tortilla roll ups, chocolatey cake pops, loaded skewers, chocolate covered strawberries (recipe here), sausage n’ cheese balls & a refreshing orange, elderflower & cranberry punch bowl! So read on to find out how they were all made….

What you’ll need

▪ 1 box of chocolate Cake mix (baked & cooled)
▪Chocolate Frosting (about 2tbsp to moisten cake enough to hold shape)
▪250g white or milk chocolate ( I used milk chocolate)
▪Cake pop/lollipop sticks
▪Topping of choice (i used sprinkles, dessicated coconut & white chocolate drops)

-Add cake to a large bowl & Crumble well.

-Add in frosting a tbsp at a time using your hands combine well, until cake can hold a ball shape yet isn’t too hard

-Roll cake mix in to tight golf ball size balls and place aside, repeat till all the mix has been rolled.

-Melt about 4 cubes of the chocolate in the microwave, then dip the tip of the cake pop sticks into the chocolate and insert half way into the cake balls.

-Freeze for about 20 minutes, whilst you prepare the next steps.

-Place topping in small bowls, melt the remaining chocolate in a narrow cup to submerge cake pops.

-Remove cake balls from freezer and dip in to the chocolate till coated, tap off excess (be quick as chocolate hardens quickly)

-Coat top of cake pop in desired topping and let stand to dry.

-You can also place in freezer to speed up setting time. when ready present in a cake pop stand for all to see!

ooh by the way I have a couple of great ways to use up the leftover icing over here!

This one is fairly simple, you can add and remove what you like. All you’ll need are bamboo skewers and a selection of veggies, sausages & cheeses. We used Mozzarella, Black & green olives, cheddar, cucumber, cherry tomatoes & halal chicken sauages as pictured below…
