Tuna & peas Mac & cheese

This recipe is what I call ‘yummy lazy meal’, its nothing to be ashamed of, even the Michelin star chef must have beans on toast once in a while, surely!

A little twist on good old school Mac & cheese with the added protein and veg! Kids love it and so will you! creamy, cheesey and yummy to boot! not everyday gourmet right?

What you’ll need

(Serves 4)

▪400g pasta (penne, fusilli etc)

▪50g butter

▪50g  plain flour

▪600ml milk

▪250g cheddar cheese

▪1tsp dried parsley

▪1 can (160g) of tuna

▪150g peas



-Heat oven to 180C. Boil the pasta till al dente. In a seperate saucepan melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 min.

-Gradually stir in the milk to make a thick white sauce. Remove from the heat and stir in half the cheese & 1tsp dried parsley.

-Drain the pasta, mix with the white sauce, tuna, peas and season.

-Transfer to a baking dish and top with the rest of the grated cheese. Bake for 15-20 mins until the cheese on top is golden and starting to brown.
